University of Turku is the second largest, and the most international university in Finland. It aims to act as a catalyst for social well-being and the economy, educating experts for the labour market, recognising and utilising the innovation potential of research and globally competitive education services.

Role in ECOPRODIGI: Leads the whole project through the Pan-European Institute, a research unit of Turku School of Economics. Acts as the project coordinator and financial administrator. Collects data on progress of assessments and pilots, complies ideas on best practices in collaborations, syntheses work on all three technological cases. Another unit of the University of Turku, the Brahea Centre, Centre for Maritime Studies leads the work in WP 5 together with Centrum Balticum.

Aalborg University

Aalborg University takes pride in ensuring that all its degree programmes and research activities are problem-, and project-based, and have an interdisciplinary focus. They invest in strong collaboration with public and private sectors aiming to give their students a ‘real-world approach’.

Role in ECOPRODIGI: Aalborg acts as a Work Package leader for WP 2 and 3, together with Chalmers University of Technology.  They are also responsible of documenting the assessment process, providing information to further WPs in terms of best practices. Together with other partners, they will:

• Study the possibilities of internal data utilisation on-board for enhancing vessel performance
• Design and pilot digital vessel performance optimisation tools at Lauritzen and and Island ferries vessel contexts
• Pilot big data based tools and test 3D scanning possibilities particularly in the DFDS stowage operations

Chalmers University of Technology

Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden focuses on research and high-level education in technology, maritime, natural science, architecture and management. Chalmers is a pioneer in regards to how a university can take on, work with, and take responsibility for sustainable development.

Role in ECOPRODIGI: Chalmers acts as the Work Package leader in WP 3, and has a significant role in the facilitation.  Their tasks include, for instance, assessing eco-inefficiencies and digitalisation potential in the DFDS stowage operations.

University of South-Eastern Norway

University of South-Eastern Norway is Norway’s second largest state-owned university college. One of their primary goals is to establish an internationally competitive and regionally based multi-campus university.

Role in ECOPRODIGI: They are leading the Work Package 4 together with Machine Learning Center Turku Ltd. They will bring their educational expertise in the project, and also:

• Study the possibilities of internal data utilisation on-board for enhancing vessel performance
• Assess eco-inefficiencies and digitalisation potential in the DFDS stowage operations
• Design and pilot digital vessel performance optimisation tools at Lauritzen and Island ferries vessel contexts
• Pilot big data based tools and test 3D scanning possibilities particularly in the DFDS stowage operations

University of Southern Denmark

University of Southern Denmark is the third-largest university in Denmark, offering 115 study programmes in humanities, social, natural and health sciences and engineering, and also joint programmes in Germany. They hold strong contacts with regional industries and the international scientific community.

Role in ECOPRODIGI: Some of their responsibilities, together with other partners are:

• Study the possibilities of internal data utilisation on-board for enhancing vessel performance.
• Assess eco-inefficiencies and digitalisation potential in the DFDS stowage operations
• Design and pilot digital vessel performance optimisation tools at Lauritzen and Island ferries vessel contexts

Carina Solutions Oy

Carina Solutions is a leading-edge company in global industrial project management, production and supply chain processes. They deliver production and manufacturing services at global scale and seek to improve customers’ industrial ecosystems.

Role in ECOPRODIGI: Carina Solutions will be working at the Meyer Turku shipyards, conducting assessments and pilot manufacturing processes at the shipyard.

Centrum Balticum Foundation

Centrum Balticum communicates, coordinates and connects Baltic Sea region cooperation. They act as an active communicator of multisectoral development of the Baltic Sea region, and as a catalyst for public debate and offer fora for dialogue.

Role in ECOPRODIGI: Centrum Balticum is responsible for the overall communications of ECOPRODIGI. They also lead the Work Package 5 with the University of Turku, strengthening public support for maritime industry digitalisation. In particular, Centrum Balticum is responsible for organising policy workshops during the project.

Danish Maritime

Danish Maritime is the meeting place for Danish manufacturers of maritime equipment and ships. One of their most important tasks is to contribute to the continuous success and global competitiveness of the Danish maritime industry by promoting favourable conditions for the Danish maritime industry.

Role in ECOPRODIGI: Danish Maritime will, among other tasks, facilitate the scenario work and roadmapping conducted in workshops with industry end-user partners.

DFDS

DFDS A/A – Det Forenede Dampskibs-Selskab is Northern Europe’s largest shipping and logistics company. They provide freight shipping services, logistics solutions, passenger ferries and mini-cruises.

Role in ECOPRODIGI: A major assessment, development and piloting environment. Piloting e.g. big data based tools and test 3D scanning possibilities particularly in the DFDS stowage operations.

Island Ferry Secretariat

The mission of Island Ferry Secretariat – or Faerge Sekretariatet in Danish – is to promote ongoing municipal cooperation and to offer expertise and consultation.

Role in ECOPRODIGI: Design and pilot digital vessel performance optimisation tools at Lauritzen and and Island ferries vessel contexts. Pilot big data based tools and test 3D scanning possibilities particularly in the DFDS stowage operations.

Klaipeda Science and Technology Park

Klaipeda Science and Technology Park is a centre focused on promoting an innovative environment in the Klaipeda Region, with the aim of establishing close and focused cooperation between the science and business sectors, ensuring greater economic competitiveness and creating favourable conditions in the ecosystem for start-ups.

Role in ECOPRODIGI: Outreach to industry network, support workshops and activities at Western Shipyard.

Machine Technology Center Turku Ltd

Machine Technology Center Turku (or Koneteknologiakeskus in Finnish) is a modern learning, training and development centre for enterprises, educational institutes and researchers. It provides a dynamic and comprehensive environment for applied research and professional specialisation.

Role in ECOPRODIGI: Work Package Leader in WP 4 “Improving seedbed for eco-efficient digital solutions” together with University College of Southeast Norway. Work on technology case 3 (process optimisation at shipyards), create digital systems and pilot the solutions at Meyer shipyards.

Meyer Turku Oy

Meyer Turku is a family-owned shipyard in Finland, one of the leading European shipbuilding companies. Founded in 1737, it specialises in building cruise ships, passenger ferries and special ships.

Role in ECOPRODIGI: Meyer Turku shipyard acts as the main environment for assessment, development and piloting the new tools for internal and external processes in the yard.

OSK-ShipTech

Osk-ShipTech A/S Naval Architects and Marine Engineers provides expert marine consultancy services to owners, yards and other maritime clients worldwide operating in shipping, passenger transport, special vessels and heavy-lift/jack-up vessels for offshore wind turbines and more.

Role in ECOPRODIGI: Conducts assessments and technology pilots at Western Shipyard.

Kockum Sonics AB

Kockum Sonics presents a wide range of marine and industry products. They have a wide product portfolio ranging from acoustic signalling and cleaning equipment to complex software systems based on cutting edge information technology.

Logimatic is a Danish engineering and software company with solid global experience in development, sales, implementation and support of in-house developed software and automation solutions. They also offer consultancy, both as independent services as well as in connection with their IT solutions.

JSC “Western Baltic Engineering”

JSC “Western Baltic Engineering” is a subsidiary of the Western Shipyard, rendering professional naval services through using advanced CAD/CAM software programmes and progressive technology. The three departments of Western Baltic Engineering include vessel hull, mechanical parts of the vessel and the vessel outfitting design department.

Role in ECOPRODIGI: Hosts technology applications and supports identification of new solutions

Vessel Performance Solutions

Vessel Performance Solutions analyses operational data from ships. They support ship owners and operators with creating insight into their fleet performance, without having to install equipment or software, but only through analysis of existing operational data.

Role in ECOPRODIGI: Design and pilot digital vessel performance optimisation tools at Lauritzen and  Island ferries vessel contexts.

J. Lauritzen

J. Lauritzen is a Danish shipping company with worldwide operations. Their aim is to provide their owners with an attractive return on equity and to spread risk across different business areas, each with specific business models that enable them to deliver competitive and reliable transportation services to their clients.

Role in ECOPRODIGI: Design and pilot digital vessel performance optimisation tools at their own and  Island ferries vessel contexts.

ATS AB

ATS AB is marketing laser based 1D-2D-3D distance measurement instruments and systems for industrial applications. Their focus is on different types of guidance, docking and navigation systems.

Role in ECOPRODIGI: Follows and gives feedback to the activities by attending and sharing expertise and perspectives in the synthesis workshop, and disseminates the findings further through networks. Supports work by providing expertise and knowledge of the latest developments and products for 3D scanning to the whole consortium.

Svendborg International Maritime Academy (SIMAC)

SIMAC is Denmark’s largest maritime education centre featuring three education programmes; Their vision is to educate the world’s best maritime leaders and mission to act as a maritime institutions for education and knowledge development.

Role in ECOPRODIGI: Supports the project by contributing with insight of practical maritime operations concerning energy management on board and cargo handling.

Polish Maritime Cluster

Polish Maritime Cluster is a key maritime cluster in Central and Eastern Europe, an active maritime cluster player in the Baltic Sea Region and the EU, as well as a member of the European Network of Maritime Clusters, UN Global Compact and European Cluster Collaboration platform. The Polish Maritime Cluster focuses on transferring knowledge and organising business, science and administration cooperation in a global and regional scale.

Role in ECOPRODIGI: Plays an important role transferring the needs of the Polish industry actors to the project consortium and vice versa, spreading message of the project outcomes to their members.

Seismo-Shelf LTD

Seismo-Shelf is one of the leading geophysical companies in Russia engaged in seismic and engineering surveys in technically complex areas such as offshore, sea/land transition zones, estuaries, highly cultivated areas to name but a few.

Role in ECOPRODIGI: Supports the project by supplying its competences in the vessel equipment design and installations as well as by transferring the results to its industry networks in Russia, particularly to its key partner Sovcomflot Holding.

AS Tallink Group

Tallink Group nis a leading provider of high-quality mini-cruise and passenger transport services in the northern Baltic Sea region, as well as a leading provider of ro-ro cargo services on selected routes.

Role in ECOPRODIGI: Supports the project by sharing experience on 1) performance monitoring and vessel operations for ship operators using noon report/autolog data sources and software platforms for the analysis of performance data, and 2) on stowage planning based on cargot weight and position data capturing technologies.

Tallinn University of Technology

Tallinn University of Technology (TTÜ) is the only technological university in Estonia, and a flagship of Estonian engineering and technology education.

Role in ECOPRODIGI: Conveys the needs of Estonian maritime industry operators and shares the project outcomes to their members. Also provides expertise to digital technology development.
